Here’s the latest spot from Team One (Los Angeles) for Lexus where we’re shown a strange world where the letter “H” has gone missing…. from the classroom to the keyboard, even on billboards. In typical Lexus fashion we have the deep, yet still soft spoken narrator explain that the letter H didn’t feel “unappreciated” but rather had just found a better place to live. That place being on the hybrid tag found on the back of the new Lexus line of “eco-friendly” automobiles. Rather than taking a “green” route to tout the car, they simply end with, “The Power Of h. The Lexus Hybrids.”

Personally I like this spot, but then again, I like most Lexus commercials. Hopefully their goal wasn’t to show just how off-centered the world would be if we were to all of a sudden be missing a letter in the alphabet (and thus inferring that the power of the letter is symbolic to the power of the car)….. because in this case they’d be far off from their mark. That aside it makes for an interesting commercial indeed.

Agency Producer for this commercial was Erin Finch (with Jack Epsteen as the Executive AP) and features Gavin Lester and Jon Pearse as the GCDs.

Dante Ariola directed the spot for MJZ with Toby Irwin as the DP. Andrea MacArthur did the post-editing with Rock Paper Scissors using A52 for the visual effects. Last but not least, Chris Brady from HUM takes credit for composing the soundtrack.

Here’s the latest installment in the Mini campaign done by SanFran based Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners. This time there is no decoder kit required to view the message, instead we are given a “Mini Parking Amulet.” Made for non-mini owners, this amulet is supposed to aid owners of big cars with finding parking spaces as “It’s not easy squeezing a mastadon into a marmot hole.” Combined with the usual witty copy, this punch-out amulet was a pretty novel idea. First they went after mini-owners, now it seems they are going after the “other” crowd. The best part is the text on the back:

Still circling? In the very, very , very remote chance your amulet is defective, remain calm. Cursing the amulet will only summon forth additional fire hydrants and loading zones from parking purgatory. Take a deep breath, visit miniusa.com, and restore your faith in parking magic.

Needless to say, I’m a fan of this project.

—[UPDATE]—

Ian Cooper from www.gpmini.net just sent me the billboard accompaniment found “on Route 1 in Saugus just north of Boston, Massachusetts.” Thanks Ian.

I like this ad in that it takes an interesting play on the transitivity of equality(that is if A=B, and B=C, then A=C.. duh!). The animation is spot on and if you were to take out the product shot at the end, this ad could be used as a pretty cool screen saver.
Nicely done.
Conceptualized by Creative on Demand and produced at Logan/Venice(good to see they aren’t ripping off anyone for this one). The Executive Producer was Kevin Shapiro, the same guy who was EP for the new Bob Dylan iTunes spot.

By clicking here you can view a similar spot that they made in which they use the same logic but this time with Timbales.
