Nokia has recently been airing two new spots in the UK for their N-Series mobile phones. Created by Wieden + Kennedy, London both commercials feature strange animated headphones that embody whatever style of music that the phones, which are connected to the headsets, are playing. Supposed to represent completely different styles of music, the headsets are “pitted” against one-another in an animated battle. The one above is called Pop Princess vs. DJ and you can view the other commercial in the set below.

Nokia - Lips vs. Mindreader:

Ida Gronblom and Fabian Bergund are the Art Director/Copywriter team for this series along with Jon Chads as the Agency Producer. Tokyoplastic directed both of the spots with Picasso Pictures as the production company (Jane Bolton was the Executive Producer). Sam Lanyon Jones was the Editor with Finish TV as Post-Production. Sound Design was by Andrew Cope.

The song used for Nokia - Lips vs. Mindreader was Punk Rock Version of God by The Freelance Hellraiser (real name Roy Kerr).

The music used for Pop Princess vs. DJ was by Roy Kerr and Anu Pillai from Damunki (on the Brightside/Sony BMG label).

TBWA\Media Arts Lab just launched three new Apple commercials featuring everyone’s favorite matchup: Mac vs. PC.

In the first one (shown above), Pizza Box, we find PC inside a trap-door pizza box. When asked, PC or Free Pizza as he tells us, responds by informing us that Macs are apparently the number one notebook on college campuses. His plan is to lure people over to the PC side when they come looking for Mac and see the “free pizza.”

The second one, Throne, has PC sitting atop a royal throne. After mentioning that although Mac has a better operating system, PC was still king, the Mac has to go ahead and ruin his fantasy by talking about how easy it is to convert…something about bringing your PC into any Apple store… then PC banishes Mac.

Apple - Throne:

In the third one, Calming Teas, PC shows us some new teas that he has developed for PC users. Crashing Time Camomile, Pomegranate Patience and Raspberry Restarts are some of the teas PC tries to press on Mac. He even has a line of Vista Stress Relieving Bath Soaps. Ohh John Hodgman, you’re so much cooler than Justin Long.

Apple - Calming Teas:

Kevin Tenglin and Jamie Reilly were the Copywriter/Art Director team for this series with Mike Refuerzo and Serena Auroux as the Producers.

Phil Morrison was the Director for Epoch Films with Peter Donahu as the DP. Val Thrasher’s on the list as Editor for Mad River Post with Brain Robinson and Stefan Sonnerfield from Company 3.

Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Miami have recently come out with two new commercials to promote Burger King’s new Cheesy Bacon Tendercrisp burger. The first one, shown above, is named Motel and shows us what at first looks like a cheating husband. After zooming in on the burger being devoured a knock comes at the door….then the whole door gets kicked in. Since this man isn’t cheating on his wife he can only be cheating on…Bessie.

The second spot, found below, in this set is named Makeout Point and is equally funny in its representation of a ‘cheating burger eater.’

Burger King - Makeout Point

Copywriter Michael Danko and Senior Art Directors Lynn Born & David DeRoma are responsible for these spots with Matt and Amy Bonin as the Executive/Integrated Producers.

Happy/Guy Shelmerdine directed for Smuggler and featured Chan Hatcher from NumberSix as the Editor. Sebastian Pfaffenbichler was the DP.

Visa and TBWA\Chiat\Day’s creation, Go World< /em>, has been a widely talked about campaign celebrating Team USA in this years Summer Olympics held in Beijing, China. The most talked about of this series has been three commercials centered around Team USA swimmer Michael Phelps.

Visa first had a Michael Phelps spot as part of their over-all Go World campaign that was nothing out-of-the-ordinary compared to others in the series (as shown above). However after Michael Phelps won his 10th Gold Medal on August 12th in the 200 meter Freestyle, it made him a world-record holder for most Gold Medals won. No one in the history of the world has ever won as many Olympic Gold Medals as Michael Phelps has. To celebrate, immediately after airing Michael Phelps’ victory in the 200 Meter Freestyle, Visa aired a promo congratulating him on his accomplishments.
As Morgan Freeman narrates:

Congratulations Michael, on having won more gold medals than anybody…ever.

Visa - Go World - Michael Phelps - Congratulations:

TBWA\Chiat\Day has mentioned that the idea of a Visa ad commemorating the victory (if it happened) was something that they had conceptualized “as early as April.” They had already purchased the media in case they could use the concept even. Great job, especially for having to turn around the footage into a spot in less than 24 hours!

Shortly after that though, Michael Phelps shattered yet another world record by winning the 4X100 Meter Medley Relay, securing his 8th Gold Medal for the 2008 Summer Olympics. That’s more Gold Medals than anyone has ever won in any single Olympics! To celebrate, Visa aired the following spot shortly after showing his record-breaking performance.
Morgan Freeman once again narrates:

One Gold Medal is amazing. Two is, well, incredible. Three, practically unbelievable. But eight? Eight Gold Medals? Thats… thats, well, we’re going to need some new adjectives for whatever that is. Congratulations Michael.
