Here’s the latest to come out of Wieden + Kennedy for Nike, titled “Fate.” All I can say is ‘wow.’ This commercial makes me wish I was 16 again and playing high school football. Both the segues and the soundtrack are absolutely seamless!

Jason Bagley and Ryan O’Rourke were the Copywriter/Art Director team for this piece along with Matt Hunnicutt and Juliana Montgomery as the Sr. and Associate Producers.

David Fincher from Anonymous Content was the Director along with Emmanuel Lubezki as the DOP. Angus Wall from Rock Paper Scissors was the Editor with CL Weaver as the Post EP (Michael Goble was the Post Producer). VFX was by Asylum and featured sound design by Ren Klyce from MOS. Last but not least, Loren Silber did the mixing at Lime (Jessica Locke was the Mix Producer).

Nike recently teamed up with Dick’s Sporting Goods for a series of commercials featuring various professional athletes.

In the one shown above, Mannequin, we get to see Glenn Dorsey, defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, school a Dick’s Sporting Goods employee on what a football player really looks like.

Another in the series features Darren McFadden instructing a young player how to properly choose cleats (shown below the fold along with credits).

Taking the iconic video of Marvin Gaye singing the National Anthem at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game, Nike has recently released a new commercial/featurette splicing together clips of LeBron James, Kobe, J-Kidd and the rest of the American team with footage of Marvin from the All-Star Game. I remember being emailed the YouTube link of Marvin singing the National Anthem a few years ago and today it’s the most popular video on the site for the artist (over 1 million views).

In a press release from Nike, they explained their reason for choosing this unique version of the song attributing it to a move by the couch of our Olympic Basketball Team, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski.

Coach K took a moment out of practice to share a version of the song with his players that, in its own right, made sports history…

To show support for the men that will represent us in Beijing, Nike Basketball brings Marvin, LeBron, Kobe, J-Kidd and the rest of the team together to pay homage to basketball, America’s game.

Nathan Goldberg and Shannon McGlothin were the Copywriter/Art Director team responsible for this idea for Wieden + Kennedy. Stacy Wall directed for Epoch Films along with Lisa Gunning editing for The Whitehouse (Justin Beere was the Assistant Editor). Jeff Payne from Eleven Sound mixed Marvin’s audio along with Gus Koven from Stimmung as the Sound Designer.

We Have Softball is the latest to come out of the Wieden + Kennedy, Portland office for Nike. Set to the Donna Fargo song, Happiest Girl in the Whole USA, we are shown a slow-motion montage of softball players in action. This is a great, upbeat spot for Nike, showcasing the camaraderie and dedication found only in team sports.

It ends with the line,

We have softball. You can have everything else.”

Stacy Wall directed this commercial for Epoch Films where Jerry Solomon is the Head of Production (Tammy Reich is Director of Photography). Lisa Gunning from The Whitehouse was the Editor (Justin Beere was the Assistant Editor) with Justin Kumpata as the Producer.

Jeff Payne mixed the audio with Eleven Sound. Gus Koven was the credited Sound Designer with Stimmung. Let’s also not forget Casey Conroy, another Producer along with Ring of Fire in charge of the Online/Effects. Mike Pethel and Matt Turner from CO. 3 did all the Color Correction. Maurie Enochson at Buck was credited with being behind this spot’s Tiles/Graphics.

Once again the song used in We Have Softball was:

W+K just launched a new campaign for Nike which features a television spot showcasing various athletic displays of “courage.” The video is accompanied by a page on Nike’s website - www.nike.com/nikecourage/

On the website I thought the video display was pretty neat - They tied-in the time mark on the video clip with the various events posted around the page so that as a new event appears in the video, the marker switches to give you an explanation of what occurred. You can also select an event with your courser to jump right to that description.

At the end of the video it prompts you to visit their YouTube page and submit your own version of “Courage.”

So far (Thu. night) the only video shown in the group is the same one from the Nike website. There are also only six members in the group and a few of them look like spam-accounts/fake.

This courage-montage was produced by Endy Hedman (Ben Grylewicz was the agency EP) with creative direction provided by Jelly Helm, Steve Luker and Hank Corwin.

Ralf Schmerberg directed this piece for @radical.media (With Ben Schneider and Donna Portaro as E/EP). Online credits are given to Vendetta Post, Audio post was done by “Lime and the song playing is called “All These Things That I’ve Done” by The Killers.
