On the very top of my list of favorite World Cup videos that i’ve ever see so far, here’s one called 1284 from Y&R Brazil and Energy. It begins with soccer legend Pelé saying,

If I could replay my life, maybe if I scored my last goal with the Brazilian Team, i’d like that…

Shot entirely at Morumbi stadium in Sao Paulo this production involved more than 250 professionals a well over 500 cast members. On top of that a handful of professional players were involved in the shoot in addition to a few famous Brazilian sports and journalist icons like Rivellino, Carlos Alberto Torres, Orlando Duarte and Osmar de Oliveira.

A tip of the hat on this one…. well done.

Here’s the latest addition from Wieden + Kennedy to their current campaign for Dick’s Sporting Goods where they’ve enlisted the help of various pro athletes to interact with store customers in strange and unique ways. This time they’ve recruited Jimmy Rollins who, after taking a few shots to the chest from a poorly placed pitching machine, tells some teens looking to buy new cleats that performance can hurt.

Here’s an epic new spot by Robinson’s promoting Wimbledon and their hope for a British champion this year. It’s commercials like this that remind me why I love advertising so much. In :30 seconds they manage to convey a whole slew of emotions all peaking with the elation and joy brought by watching your team (or in this case tennis player) achieve victory. It’s a set of emotion that can be shared across color-lines, nationalities and social class, though making the transition from emotion to screen and back in less than a minute is no easy task. Another great example of this would be Nike’s We Have Softball from late last year. Kudos.

This spot was directed by Benito Montorio from Blink, London and was conceptualized by Daniel Schafer and Szymon Rose from BBH, London for client Robinson’s. Antonio Paladino was the Director of Photography with Phil Oldham from Absolute Post credited for post production (Andy Mcgraw from Cut and Run was the Editor). Sound Design was by Aaron Reynolds at Wave.
