Here’s a recent spot for The Coca-Cola Company with an Olympic theme. Created by Wieden + Kennedy, Amsterdam, it gives us a 3D animated birds perspective on an “Olympic task.”

As part of their Olympic Games promotion, Wieden + Kennedy had recently released a spot for Coke featuring an animated match-up between American LeBron James and Chinese Yao Ming. It seems like ever since they came out with their Coca-Cola - Video Game and Happiness Factory series of spots they’ve been trying to re-create that same level of success that was found using 3D animation.

Dave Smith and Pierre Janneau are the Copywriter/Art Director duo for w+k with Neil Henry, Elissa Singstock and Cimien Ekici as agency producers (Emma Williamson was the PM). Partizan Films was the Production Company.

Eric Lerner directed the animated portion with Isabella Parish as the executive producer (Julie Crosbie was a production company producer as well).

For the live action portion, Thomas Hilland directed with Russell Curtis and Miranda Johnstone as the executive producer/producer. Stephen Keith-Roach was the director of photography with Russell Icke editing for Munky, London.

Music was by A-Bomb and Human (Where Augusta Quiney and Marc Altshuler are executive producers). Audio post production was by Wave Studios.

W+K just launched a new campaign for Nike which features a television spot showcasing various athletic displays of “courage.” The video is accompanied by a page on Nike’s website - www.nike.com/nikecourage/

On the website I thought the video display was pretty neat - They tied-in the time mark on the video clip with the various events posted around the page so that as a new event appears in the video, the marker switches to give you an explanation of what occurred. You can also select an event with your courser to jump right to that description.

At the end of the video it prompts you to visit their YouTube page and submit your own version of “Courage.”

So far (Thu. night) the only video shown in the group is the same one from the Nike website. There are also only six members in the group and a few of them look like spam-accounts/fake.

This courage-montage was produced by Endy Hedman (Ben Grylewicz was the agency EP) with creative direction provided by Jelly Helm, Steve Luker and Hank Corwin.

Ralf Schmerberg directed this piece for @radical.media (With Ben Schneider and Donna Portaro as E/EP). Online credits are given to Vendetta Post, Audio post was done by “Lime and the song playing is called “All These Things That I’ve Done” by The Killers.

Wieden + Kennedy brings us this new spot for The Coca-Cola Company featuring animated versions of Yao Ming and LeBron James in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games. Pretty cool 3D effects in this spot as each character brings out stereotypical icons from China/USA in preparation for their battle. It ends before it even starts though as both superstars eventually bond together over a cold bottle of Coca-Cola (I didn’t see that one coming), giving us the message of “Unity.”

Dylan Lee and Mira Kaddoura schemed up this spot as the copywriter/art director with Hal Curtis and Sheena Brady as the W+K creative directors. The commercial was produced by Kevin Diller and had Nexus as the production company. Smith & Foulkes directed with Melody Sylvester as the producer (Julia Parfitt was the executive producer). Cliff Wilson from Digital One did all the post production audio work with music credits going to Eclectic.

Nike - Italy

These ads have been all over the ‘net recently. Great looking campaign done by Nike to promote their sponsored Italian football players. I love it when advertising starts to look like art. Done by W+K, Amsterdam (CDs: Mark Hunter & Alvaro Sotomayor).

Here’s a rought translation (thanks to I believe in adv):

Materazzi Cupboards. World leading solidity tested for headbutts.
Pirlo Precision Tools. Worldwide leader in finishing touch under pressure.
Pasta Gattuso. No.1 in the world: it never overcook, not even in extra time.

You can view the whole collection here.

Here’s the latest spot for Coca-Cola. Conceptualized by Wieden + Kennedy - Portland, this video was the love child of the good folks over at Nexus Productions. Made to resemble the popular video game series, Grand Theft Auto, this shows what life would be like if the main character started his day off by drinking a cold Coke. He no longer feels the need to rob, kill, and pillage(all of which made the game immensely popular and highly addicting). It then goes on to show the character going about his day performing various acts of goodwill to celebrate “The Coke Side of Life.” If they’re trying to appeal to the young crowd with this one, I think they’re spot on. GTA(especially the latest one, Vice City) is a household name amongst the 18-30 year old crowd. Even the Chappelle Show did a parody of the game.

First the Happiness Factory spot and now this one, hopefully that means we can expect to see more utilization of 3d animation in ads. Very clever, very original, bottom line: I like this spot.
[Update] W+K just posted the storyboard for this pitch on their blog. You can view it here.

UPDATE!: The song used in this spot was originally recorded for a 1976 gangster film called Bugsy Malone and is the music in the closing scene. You can buy the soundtrack here: Bugsy Malone OST - You Give A Little Love
